Copper Coil – High Conductivity Copper Tubing & Strip Coils

Copper Coil Overview

Advtech Engineering supplies copper coil in tubing and strip forms for industrial, mechanical and electrical enquiries in Malaysia. Continuous coil packaging can reduce the number of joints and support routing or forming work, but the correct product form, dimensions, temper and specification must be confirmed for each application.

Copper Tubing Coil and Copper Strip Coil

Copper tubing coil

Copper tubing coil is a hollow round product. Buyers should specify outside diameter, wall thickness, coil length and the required temper or annealed condition. Tube dimensions and pressure-related use cannot be selected from diameter alone.

Copper strip coil

Copper strip coil is a flat rolled product. Required width, thickness, coil weight or length, edge condition and temper should be stated. Tubing and strip are different product forms and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Conductivity and Material Confirmation

Copper is commonly selected where thermal or electrical conductivity is important. However, actual conductivity, copper grade, purity, mechanical properties and certification depend on the supplied specification. These values should be verified against the required standard or material record rather than assumed from a general product description.

Confirm the required copper grade and temper

Temper affects flexibility, forming behaviour and strength. Tell Advtech whether the coil must be soft or annealed, half-hard, hard, or supplied to another specified condition. If a particular alloy or international standard is required, include it in the enquiry.

Typical Application Review

Copper tubing coils may be considered for HVAC and refrigeration lines, heat exchangers, condensers, plumbing, water systems and industrial equipment. Copper strip coils may be considered for electrical, grounding, fabrication and formed-component work. These examples are not automatic approval for a specific fluid, pressure, temperature or electrical duty.

Information Required for Copper Coil Selection

  • Product form: tubing, pipe or flat strip
  • Outside diameter and wall thickness for tubing
  • Width and thickness for strip
  • Required coil length, coil weight and quantity
  • Copper grade, temper and applicable standard
  • Application, fluid or electrical duty, and operating conditions
  • Surface, edge, cleanliness, testing and certificate requirements

A drawing, sample specification or clear photo of the existing part can help resolve dimensional questions.

Forming, Joining and Installation Considerations

Minimum bend radius, springback, work hardening, joining method and installation access should be considered before fabrication. Use suitable tools and procedures to avoid flattening, kinking, cracking or surface damage. For fluid systems, cleanliness, joint preparation, supports and the site's inspection and test requirements must also be addressed.

Quality and Engineering Review

Before ordering, confirm dimensional tolerances, material identification, test or inspection needs, certificate requirements and acceptable coil packaging. Advtech can review the commercial and technical information provided, while the purchaser or appointed engineer remains responsible for final system design and compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is copper tubing coil the same as copper strip coil?
No. Tubing is hollow and round, while strip is flat. Their dimensions and selection criteria are different.

Can you recommend a coil from the application name alone?
Not reliably. Dimensions, temper, grade, operating conditions and the relevant standard are needed for a grounded review.

What should I provide for a quotation?
Send the product form, complete dimensions, coil length or weight, grade, temper, quantity, intended duty and any testing or certificate requirements.
