Understanding the 10 Bar Product Designation

The 10 bar wording identifies the product range but does not automatically approve every hose size or complete assembly for 10 bar service. Confirm the current size-specific pressure data, normal working pressure, surges, duty cycle, fittings and assembly method.

The Complete Assembly Determines the Limit

The allowable pressure is governed by the lowest-rated hose, coupling, ferrule, clamp, flange, gasket, valve or adapter. Never use the product title as a substitute for a verified assembly rating.

Oil and Aromatic Content Review

Provide the exact oil or petroleum product name, aromatic content, additives, contaminants and current Safety Data Sheet. The published “up to 50% aromatic content” reference must be checked against the real formulation, temperature and exposure duration.

Product Families Are Not Interchangeable

Lubricating oil, diesel, fuel oil, solvents and blended petroleum products can affect elastomers differently. A broad petroleum description does not confirm compatibility with every grade or mixture.

Temperature and Transfer Conditions

Compare the published -20°C to +100°C range with both fluid and ambient temperatures. State whether service is intermittent or continuous and whether the hose remains filled between transfers. Confirm whether temperature affects the allowable working pressure.

End Connections and Sealing

Confirm hose bore, overall length, fitting or flange standard, fitting material, seal compound, orientation and flow direction. Every wetted fitting and gasket must be compatible with the transferred product.

Leak Testing Requires a Controlled Procedure

A competent person should inspect and leak-test the completed assembly using a safe test medium, method and acceptance criteria defined by the equipment manufacturer or site procedure. Keep ignition sources away from petroleum transfer areas.

Routing, Inspection and Spill Safety

Route the hose away from sharp edges, hot surfaces, vehicle traffic and excessive bend. Avoid twist, kinks, crushing and strain at the fittings. Provide support and protection appropriate to the operating area.

Before handling, stop the transfer, isolate the system, release trapped pressure and drain or contain residual product under the site procedure. Remove the assembly from service if it shows cuts, blistering, softening, hardening, leakage, exposed reinforcement or damaged fittings.
